Conversation had at the Shelter holiday party today:
"There isn't anything hear you can eat?"
"Nope. I said in the meeting that if they got pizza I wouldn't be able to eat it, and voila; pizza."
"I know, that's why we also got these soups..."
<presents soup>
<I peruse ingredients>
"Yep, I can't have those either."
"What about the salad?"
"The salad has already been tossed with a dressing, it is not safe for me to eat without seeing the ingredients."
We had a white elephant gift exchange. I had some really sweet cutlery for a few moments, then someone took them from me. I ended up with a tic tac toe shot glass set and playing board. I can't find a picture on google of the exact set I have, it's pretty neat-o.
I also got a holiday bonus today, which I was not expecting. Because of this, I will be able to make dinner tonight. Thank you work.
I've been working a lot the last 2 weeks. Thursday I am working 2 shifts for a combined 14 hours. The things we will do for money.
The hospital bills are rolling on in. The insurance company needs some crap from my last insurance carrier and a letter from me saying I didn't go to any doctors in the period I had no insurance. They want to rule out that it was a pre existing condition. I said to the guy on the phone, "I had a staph infection. I'm pretty sure that if I had it before my insurance went into effect, that I would be dead now." He didn't seem to get it.
So I then had to figure out a way to track down the old insurance company name. I finally have it straightened out, but just figuring out who gave me insurance before was a long process. Now they are mailing me all that they have on me, which won't be much. I had this insurance through school, and school changed insurance carriers right after the last time I was in the hospital. That means that in the roughly 2.5 years that I had the last insurance company I saw zero doctors and health care professionals.
Wouldn't it be nice if they just took my word that I hate going to the doctor?
Also, how does my deductible work? If I have say, a $500 deductible, then why would one receive bills for greater then that total?

All of my presents from my family are in 2 boxes next to my chair. I keep wanting to open 1 or all of them, but I can't do it. All those years of my parents only letting me open presents on Christmas has forced me into feeling guilt whenever I reach for one. I mean, they are all 850 miles away.
I wish I was seeing my family on Christmas.
