oakland is a very special place. people who haven't heard of it remark on its high crime rate and drug problem.
they don't realize how this came to be, and that the town is a hugely diverse and vibrant city with lots of communities and though it has problems, it still has so much to offer.

i've been reading "do androids dream of electric sheep?" and its pretty stellar. especially since moving to the bay area, where the book is based (albeit based 12 years in the future like whoa), i find pleasure in recognizing the locals PK Dick bases the story around.
