weekend report... it went just as planned with some improvements.
there was no traffic friday night so we got to calistoga in 1.5 hours (that was a fucking blessing). when we got to the inn we were able to upgrade our room to one with a big whirlpool bathtub. heh, oh yeah. arometherapy bubble baths, toe sucking, new positions, etcetera, etcetera... good times.
we started out saturday with mimosas and a light breakfast and watched cartoons until it was time for the spa treatments at noon. i had a mudbath, mineral water bath and steambox followed by a 30 minute massage. yeah, i felt pretty damned fine after that. amber was still getting a massage when i was finished so i went to the pool, did some swimming, and got some sun. i kinda fucked up and got too much sun on my frontside and i'm now suffering through a respectable sunburn. lots of aloe vera, yo.
after the pool we had snacks and beers in the room and went out to browse the little shops in calistoga. we didn't make it far before we found a mexican restaurant (favorite food) with open air window seats and really good margaritas. mucho grande nachos and a few margaritas later we wandered back onto the sunny streets and made our way back to our room.
drinking, napping, snacking, and cartoon watching ensued (samurai jack is the best thing ever) and we leisurely dressed for a late dinner. we weren't very hungry so we picked a really fancy restaurant and ordered good vodka drinks. we couldn't decide on entrees so we just had salads and went straight for dessert! i had gourmet cookies and milk and amber had a peach cakey thing with hand-made ice cream. it's nice to be adults. you don't have to follow the rules.
we slept in on sunday and went out for a big breakfast. on our way home we stopped at a couple of wineries and ended up at domain chandon which is known for it's sparkling wine (a.k.a champagne). we had an odd and strange tasting lunch that cost too much but we didn't care because we were kinda drunk on champagne! aaah yeah, that can be fun.
the gods smiled on us once again as there was hardly any traffic on the way home. we only got in one mild argument, got over it quickly, and invited some friends over to try out the wine we bought and have some bbq. i drank beers with my buddy johnny and grilled the meat and veggies. everything turned out very tasty and i got some fireworks out of my burning man stash and we had rootbeer floats and set off a couple of rockets.
my friend rick says i'm a fucking tattooed yuppie. whatever...
