saw the matrix last night!
i loved it. i've read a bunch of reviews and the critics are admitting that it's good but talking shit on it for unavoidable issues. i think it's just an effort to find fault with a fantastic effort by the wachowski brothers.
it slowed down in a few parts for convoluted philosophical exchanges that furthered the contemporary mythology the films have created. but i could tell those're the sequences that i'll be able to see over and over and better understand or at least discover new interpretations of the unnecessary depth incorporated into the script.
the action sequences were the most incredible things i've ever seen and keanu got a lot better at kung-fu. in fact he did an all together excellent job and carrie-anne moss is so sexy tough.
-------
i'm a little bummed that i won't be able to go to prom this weekend. it's in sf and that's only 1.25 hours away. it sounds like it's going to be very fun. oh well, maybe next time.
it's going to be a mild weekend since i'm on restriction due to my behavior last weekend. i got a little sideways for about 36 hours and had a great time but i put myself on restriction because i've got to reign in my recreational partying. my tendency to turn one night into a week of chemical debauchery is too expensive physically, financially and emotionally. as long as i can keep some distance between these episodes i'll be fine and above all - my girlfriend won't kick my ass! she's put up with a lot in the past 4.5 years that we've been together and i owe it to her, and myself, to wind down 17 years of substance abuse so i can get on with the rest of my life.
whoa. that was pretty revealing... hmm should i hit "submit"?

Couldn't agree with you more about the Matrix - freakin' kicked ass. I loved the philisophical discussions - the one with the councilman at the engineering level amused me - they could have gone on for much longer - and the scene with the Archetect - I wanted to rewind and go through it a second time just to figure out all that was said. - I'll completely lay off the substance abuse issue, as I've pretty much reigned mine in and don't wanna sound preachy. I hate preachy. Too bad I do it all the time.
