I thought it might be interesting to go back through my New Year's resolutions already and see how good I'm doing at keeping up with them. Normally I make a few then just forget about doing them like most of the world. Here's what I wrote in January:
1) Get my own place in the spring. I'm easily on track to do this and am really looking forward to it.
Knocked this one out a little early. New place is awesome
2) Gain around 10-15 pounds. Yeah, that's right - my resolution is to gain weight. I'm skinny. I think getting up to around 165-170lbs. would be ideal. Nothing major, so hopefully it isn't too hard to accomplish. I'm planning to start once it gets a little warmer. My weights are in the basement and it's fucking cold here.
It's starting to get warmer finally and my weights aren't in a basement anymore. This week I'm going to start training pretty hard. I've been reading up on what to eat, how to exercise, etc.
3) Work on my Windows Server 2008 certification. I want to administer and design networks one day. I've started reading through the material for my first test. I'd also like to move up at my current job, but with the economy being garbage I'm not going to get mad if I can't accomplish that this year.
Damn, I can't seem to keep up with this one. After college I really hate text books, studying and tests. I'm picking away at it but it's very slow now. I have applied for an open position that is a better line of work and more money, but HR has been very slow at filling the spot. I should find out when my interview is this week hopefully. My company used to always have 100+ open jobs in the area, now it's normally around 30. I wasn't really expecting something to open so soon so I really hope I get it. Who knows when the next position will open up.
4) Do things I haven't done before. It's a big world and there's plenty of stuff I haven't done yet. I'm going snowboarding for the first time next month. That's a start.
Well the guy organizing the snowboard trip bailed. I don't have a great amount of friends in this area, just the two I normally hang out with. I've been trying to turn some of the tons of acquaintances I've made in the past year into better friends. I'm hanging out with a few guys I normally don't next week, plus I have shows in April in May mentioned in one of my previous blogs I'm going to with different people. I've been slowly expanding my social circle and branching out where I can.
5) Update my blog more. Ehhhhhh, maybe eeek
Hey, I actually have updated it often .
Overall things are slowly shaping up nicely. Most of 2008 I was stuck in a rut so I'm glad I finally decided to stop moping around that college is over and start to see there's plenty of opportunities and people to meet all around me regardless of where I am and what I'm doing.
