I've never been to a really big city before. I decided to make my first trip to one by going to New York City to see one of my favorite bands live, kHz. I had to work an earlier shift so I could get off on time. I picked my buddy up late afternoon and we were ready to go.
Upon hitting the first toll both there was a section for "no ticket" and a section for "ticket". Since I didn't get a ticket yet I went through "no ticket". Turns out that's for people who have something called "EZPass" and they can just drive through tolls. The guy at the next toll both started freaking out that I didn't have a ticket, then charged me $20 for the toll. Ouch! I think I'll see another charge in the mail soon for driving through the wrong one.
A few hours later we hit the city and my phone said "destination reached" really loud. Looking around all I saw was a ferris wheel. It turns out there were two entries with different zip codes on the map in my phone. After another 40 minutes or so we managed to find the right place, park and grab some food. The people in the city were very nice, aside from just about anyone in a car. So many horns beeping and insane taxi cab drivers cutting in and out everywhere.
The show itself was amazing. The opening band hit the same time the open bar started. The only ones up front jamming to them were me, my friend and the band's girlfriends. I felt kind of bad. Once kHz got on stage the room filled up instantly. They played for around an hour. Raiana was a fuckin' amazing stage presence and there was a lot of energy in the room.
Overall, navigating the city is very frustrating but the show made it worthwhile.
