Well what better way to start my journal than with a good o' rant... just something that's been bothering me since the whole Bush/Iraq war started and I just needed to say it. Nevertheless, I hope to make new friends down the road and with that, here we go...
Oh, BTW, that's not my real name for those wondering, can you guess who's name that is? Hint: "played" bass.
--------------------------------------------
I find it rather interesting the battles people pick with each other.
I find it completely fucking hilarious the way morality finds itself on a sliding scale whenever easiest...
The way people perceive violence, for example, is completely warped. Columbine bad, brutally slaughtering thousands of Iraqis because of their leader, good.
If our leader or our god tells us to kill someone, its ok. As long as that someone isn't "one of us".
The KKK is evil because they kill people simply because they are black. The US army is good, because they kill people simply because they are Iraqi.
Our sense of what constitutes racism and bigotry is conveniently turned off when our senses of patriotism or religious ideologies come into play.
We hear parents groups protesting everything from abortion to action figures, Marilyn Manson to monopolies. They scream and yell that these things are "degrading the morality of the nation. We need to ban together to end war, poverty, hunger, violence, death, day time TV (I wish...)" And once the rally is over, go back to their cars and SUVs proudly emblazoned with a "Nuke the Fuckers" bumper sticker.
Hypocrites, all of 'em.
Then there are the pacifists: The people who start clubs at school intending to end the war, end the cruelty to animals, end the mistreatment of human rights, then get into fist fights and verbal shit-flinging matches with the leaders of their fellow groups because they lack ideological purity, or cut their hair the wrong way...
Lets nuke the whales, save the t-shirts, floss daily, don't listen to Slipknot, kill the pagans, send money to "Focus on the Family" so they can squander more tax payers money on frivolous litigation against Mr. Rogers because he doesn't teach children about god, eat our vegetables, buy a Ford 'cause after all those Asians are STILL out to get us, get rid of guns, kill the gooks and chinks and spicks, drink Coors, shop at the gap, Jesus hates the Jews so we should too, eliminate any rights which may lead people to unique thought, nation wide dress codes, metal detectors in preschools, no shoes no shirt no service, business hours are between 9 am and 5 pm eastern standard time because people dont actually live after sun down, bring back the good old days when the niggers knew there place, homosexuals will burn in hell but the ones who sent them there get off with a slap on the wrists, Eat at Joes, $tarbuck$. It's everywhere you want to be, a diamond is forever so is human ignorance, this is a work of fiction, any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental, unless you like it, then I am going to suck up, latch on, leech off, and otherwise use it to my advantage, abuse my rights, abuse myself, abuse each other, if sweet dreams really are made of these, and no one disagrees, then it really is a small world after all.
