Went to the Black Cat to see Rainer Maria last night. Got there to see half of the Denali set. Half of Engine Down, starring the guitarist's sister on vocals. Very ballsy. They attacked everything with passion. I don't know if I've ever seen such an aggressive live vocalist, either. Impressive.
Rainer Maria was really, really fun. All smiles and dancing on stage. And Caithlyn was just adorable, if I may say. All in all, very pleasy.
I bought vinyl from both bands. The Rainer Maria album was white vinyl. Score. The Denali album was clear aqua vinyl. Double score.
I had a chance to talk to Maura Davis, but I felt like I was too deep under the influence to convey just how impressed I was with her live set. So I balked, ordered another Pabst from the bartender who is now charging me a mere $2 a beer and walked out when the music stopped. Chalk another one up for the shy alcoholic.
