i have just three words to describe the new Travis LP "12 Memories".
they are as follows: boring, uninspiring, disappointing.
mind you, i am/was a big Travis fan and have been for sometime.
i felt Good Feeling was a wonderfully jumbled mix of pop gems and rough ballads.
i feel that their follow up LP "The Man Who" is the best of the bands catalog to date and one of the most solid britpop records of the late 90's. it's great!
then there is their third effort, "The Invisible Band" when the band seemed to abandon electric guitars all together and make a record that sounded half baked, drippy, sappy, and...real fucking happy.
i was very let down and couldn't wait for the band to get their heads out of the clouds and return to the rock form that they show on "The Man Who".
then...i played "12 Memeories" on the way to and from work today and all i could do was wonder aloud to myself "WHAT the FUCK HAPPENED TO TRAVIS?"
some critics will call it "mature" and they will be being polite. it's fucking DULL as watching a piece of dog shit drying on a hot sunday afternoon.
i MADE myself listen to the whole thing because i just KNEW there had to be at least ONE catchy song in the lot.
i waited.
and waited.
and waited.
almost cried.
kept waiting.
and then...it was over.
i don't know what else can be said besides save your money AND time and ignore this LP and pretend it never happened.
here is my personal Travis catalog rating:
Good Feeling ****
The Man Who *****
The Invisible Band ***
12 Memories **
on the other hand, i'm four songs into the new Starsailor LP "Silence Is Easy" and it's pretty damn good. you know, if your into Starsailor and all...and i am.

There is nothing wrong with loving farm animals. I myself am a huge fan of sheep, chikens, and geese. Oh and Piggies. I love em. I want a farm. Now, if you mean love love farm animals, I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with that but ya know, it's your business. OH, and I also like pie.

... yeah, it's really odd, it happened friday night while i was at the bar next door eating wings & drinking beer. i was about halfway done with my wings and my mouth started to feel really weird, i guess numb would be the best way to describe it. now the left side of my face is paralyzed, the doctor said that 90% of cases go away & never come back, so hopefully i'll be in the majority. i don't particularly like not being able to talk right, or smiling crooked, or looking like i'm winking at you when i blink...
