In Regards to making friends:
It is the wierdest thing...when i was younger i was 10 times more of an asshole but girls-friends and friends, no problem.
When i realized how i was being i stopped and tried to check it and now problem.
I think it is just a testament, no one really likes people who second-guess thiemselves (even if it is to their benefit). The confidence behind being anything (even an asshole) is enought i guess.

Yeah, I really dig that bbok too. One of the things that drew me to Ellroy to begin with was the fact that my own childhood shares some of the same elements as his. My mother died when I was about the same age as he was. I've met him a couple of times years ago at book signings before he was a big star and only small crowds turned out so he would sit and talk with you for a long time. He's a really interesting guy and very fucking intense. My personalized autographed copies of some of his books are some of my most prized posessions.
As I predicted in my comment here last night, I'm fine this morning. Depression sucks a baboon's ass.
