I just read that from 1930 to 1960 our population grew by 1 billion people. Thats 30 years, before that it took 130 years to grow 1 billion people, from 1800 to 1930. We're at 6.7 billion people right now and it still going. We're making cloths, farming food, everyone needs a car, people need their television... my question is why are there people in this country or the next country without food, clothing, a place to stay. If there are so many people why are volunteer centers and soup kitchens in desperate need of volunteers.
My opinion... not too many people think about it. Not to many people care... a lot of us are too busy with dealing with our own lives that we can't find time for it. But do we care, yea there are a lot of people who do want to help and its growing, things are getting better. The ball has to start rolling somewhere, so i think to myself, How much time i can put to building a better community? What can i do?... i found this http://www.handsonsacto.org/. There is one in every city. These places' events should be booked months in advance, but their not. Somewhere it became sort of cool to not help, just sit at home and watch television, not go out and socialize with a total stranger... Where has the community gone? I'm not saying the world is hopeless and "there's nothing we can do, its too late." We just need to get off our lazy asses and do something. I came to California from Michigan and Michigan is thee laziest states in the U.S. (probably the world), and let me tell you, California is a lot better, people are more aware out here. But its still not enough, there are still people who don't see it. Its a good start, and we need to keep going. There is hope, i just has to stop being hope and turn into reality.
