This is my first "real" blog, so here it goes.
I was invited up to Lake Ariel, PA outside of Scranton for a canoe trip, but I was asked to head up a few days early. After a 4 hour drive, I met up with some friends at Waymart Hotel for some American cheese pizza (fucking killer), then they showed me where we were staying. It exceeded my every expectation
I didn't know what to expect when I was told that I would be sleeping in the garage, but...
My favorite features of the apartment.
As nice as my apartment was I spent the rest of the daylight paddle boarding, and the rest if the night watching a family destruct over a game if UNO.
The next morning a friend and I planned an early venture to Jim Thorpe but were postponed due to northern Pennsylvania's arctic mornings
After it warmed up, we were on are way, but a pit-stop was in order. By the way, the people of Pocono Pines are the nicest I've ever met.
Shortly after we were at the bottom of Lehigh Gorge with the mission to make it to the top without following the trails and climbing as many boulders as we could find. We had no idea what was in stores for us.
Our first boulder
Shortly after our first boulder, I quickly realized that I forgot the bear spray.
The accent quickly became a climb.
Someone gave up
I continued on and got a nice view of the gorge. Unfortunately, the climb down was worse than the climb up.
The reward
We returned to some guests in the back yard.
The following day the owner of the coolest antique store I've ever met, Mark Weller of Sterling Upholstery took us to New York to canoe down the delaware river back to PA. I was warned that we would be drinking, spraying each other with water guns, an flipping each others canoes. So, I didn't bring my phone for any pictures, but I got a few when we stopped at Hawks Nest.
On the way home the next morning, I stopped for some disc golf in the poco is at Hickory Run. 15 spat out an ace!
On the way home I made a few excursions and my phone died. So as a last adventure a tried to make it home with no GPS. But, as a musician, when I saw a certain sign, I had to make one last stop.
Thats my trip in a nutshell. There's a lot that I couldn't capture with words or photos, so I would just like to say, "Thank you, Northern PA, for being so friendly and welcoming!"
