1. How was your Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for?
Stayed home and ate good food. Watched the Macy’s parade, but zero sports. I’m thankful for life, for love, for every new experience, for every bit of kindness and empathy, for the people who are dear to me, and, ofc, the dearest one of all.
2. Who's putting up a Christmas tree 🎄?
You know there’s not even enough room for me in this apartment! 😅
3. Do you have any family tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
Don’t have much family. I would love to create some traditions with someone! It doesn’t matter if it’s Guy Fawkes Day, the 25th or if it’s 12th night. I’m happy to be orthodox (up to a certain point...😉)❣️💓
4. Your best advice?
In general, try not to complain or compare, and try not to take anything personally, or take anyone for granted. As far as the holidays, just minimize them, and especially minimize the expectations of other people…as much as possible. Make your own holiday and make yourself happy.
5. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to?
I do. I have my year-round causes, but around Xmas, I give for food, shelter, toys, warm clothes and the rest for those in need. And I never forget our animal friends. Everybody deserves something for the holidays.
6. Your favorite Christmas song?
Alice Cooper’s version of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.”
7. Your best Christmas present, your choices given or received?
Like OP, handmade stuff is the best. But there was one Christmas I was crazy over the playset for the British marionette series “Fireball XL-5.” It was too expensive for the time. But my Dad pulled some magic, and somehow drove a couple of cities up the East Coast, and smuggled it back without my knowing. I wish I had a picture of my reaction on Christmas morning!
8. Do you have your Christmas shopping done?
Can I just quote OP? “Hell no…and most likely i won't do it in the end hahah!”
9. Fun question something you enjoy during the Holidays?
I love that the city clears out, and things are quiet. I generally find it a very good time to reflect. I like to look at the lights and displays and decorations.
10. Do you have plans for New Years eve?
No, and I doubt that I will make any. But I know who the very first person I will wish a happy new year to will be! (Provided I don’t fall asleep.)
11. Your goals for the new year 2024?
Stay happy and well, get more active, get some complicated health issues sorted out, travel, get back to life and love, and then there’s the biggest one I don’t want to jinx…
12. Your New Years resolution?
I could say, “quitting smoking” (again), but I’m not tipping my hand otherwise.
13. Your favorite hobbies?
Reading, writing, relaxing, walking, yoga, traveling, searching, seeking and striving, living and loving. Pushing my own limits. I’m a fan of vintage radio dramas, and silent film.
14. Do you do Christmas cards?
Not for many years. The family started to dwindle, I stopped sending cards, and pretty soon I stopped getting them. Life was suddenly far less complicated. But a Russian Christmas card would be very special.
15. Share anything you want from your past holiday's?
Like the enforced bonding, the general dysfunction, or the psychotic dinner table arguments? 😉😅
Happy holidays to all, and thanks to @rare for tagging me!
