I'm always amazed by the stunned mullet silence on public transport sometimes ok maybe not so much on buses but on trains you can go a whole journey without a word from anyone and i'm talkin peak hour packed carriages not half-empty trains
thats why it was kinda weird on the bus this mornin when a man of a little less than average mental capacity just wanted to talk
to total strangers it was heartening and sad sad that most passengers chose to ignore him because he didn't wear a suit or acted a bit strange what all because he wanted to conduct a conversation with somebody?? anybody? so long as they listened to radio 2ue, john laws, knew where john farnham lived or 'that guy' stan zemanek these are the things i overheard from my seat i don't particularly like any of those celebs but thats beside the point
why are people so reluctant to give a few minutes of their time this is how the world turns at the moment
or has it always been like this?
what would it be like if people slowed down... even for a second

(oh and no he didn't approach me and no i didn't get to talk to the chatty passenger because
i was not within reach?
he didn't want to chat with me?
i don't look approachable?
i dunno)
