so last weekend, a week ago, not 2 days ago:
i went to see against me play at toad's place. for those of you out of the area, toad's is the big rock club in New Haven that books all the big indie label acts and the small major label acts.
there was a guy from this anarchist bookstore in richmond (paper street) who was touring with against me and i traded him some zines and some cash for 2 books. i got dance of days which is about hardcore/punk in DC and a book called rent girl which is about a lesbian hooker with some really great illustrations. sex worker stories are usually pretty good, but i think it's growing in counterculture popularity to the point where you're sarting to get a lot of lame generic writers all writing about the same thing. fewer and fewer are different from the next one. kinda like all those stories about "i was a hippy wastoid back in the sixties and seventies."
but rent girl is damn good. it keeps moving and stays interesting. michelle tea is the author.

i also got a new ATM card and i cancelled the old one that my SG account was billed to. i may just let my SG sccount expire, depending on how i feel about this thing with the models leaving SG. this is weird, cuz it's on the internet and i haven't explored the full story yet. i do feel torn because i am a union man and i wouldn't cross a picket line. it's hard to make up my mind on this one.
in case that happens you can still email me. keep in touch if you want. i'm also slowly getting started on another issue of my zine joenobody@riseup.net
