a layoff is coming soon at work cuz the job's almost done. they're gonna lay people off from both 1st shift and 2nd shift, and have the rest of the people all go to first shift to finish the job for the last 2 months.
it's not a big deal, it happens all the time in union construction. the union manages your health and pesnion fund, so you don't have to stay at the same company. you just go down to the union hall when a company lays you off, then sign the list and the hall calls you back and sends you back to work in a few weeks. you collect unemployment in the meantime.
i've got other options too, and i'd like the time off. there's nothing like having a steady paycheck though. i'm not worried about being laid off, i just wish i knew if i was staying or going so i could plan accordingly. all i want is a straight answer out of these people....it's funny how work can be so much like dating...
