i've kinda been running a day late and a dollar short when it comes to making SGCT events. Maddie's birthday party was last night and i thought i'd be able to make it but i got held up at a show and only made the last 5 minutes before everyone left.
but anyways, here's some pics from the show.
this is mark leonard. he does anarcho-accoustic punk. he's on myspace as rabidpossum. if you're on myspace ask him for a demo cd. it's good stuff. the show was at his and his girlfriend's house.
sometimes mark has some beer.
dave cuomo, NYC rebel folk. i just met him. he's a very nice guy.
this is a sucky pic, but it's the only one i have of darren "deicide" kramer. we were arrested together on mayday in NYC in 2000. we were "black bloc anarchists." Darren plays a bluesy roots rock style with ray charles covers. damn good and downright fun. at one point everyone in the whole place got up and started dancing during his set. Anne and Sam always make me dance. I must be a good dancer like Napoleon Dynamite.
bread and roses from boston. okay, if you get a chance, go see these guys. the same idea behind the pogues. punk rock learned musicians playing wild, energetic traditional music on traditional instruments. they play old drinking songs, worker's ballads, sea chanties.... more of a traditional american sound as opposed to the pogues irish sound...go figure....
the other half of bread and roses
this is sam's kid isabella. she's a wild one, but she's also a real sweetheart. she was bugging the bread and roses guys forever. the guy in the blue shirt was playing his mandolin for her. i wanted to get a picture cuz it was too cute but my batteries were dead.
these are some of the norwich punks. from left, mark, andre, punk rock pat, and beck. pat's a good friend of mine. beck's kind of a fuck up. he was too drunk at the show and everyone told him to calm down again and again. finally i got sick of it when he kept falling into bread and roses's stand up bass. so i grabbed him and pushed him out the door and told him he was leaving, but he missed the step and went face first into a bureau that was on the porch. he was knocked out for a minute and had a big gash on his head. i felt bad because he was laying down in the corner moaning and whimpering like gollum from lord of the rings. "fat hobbitses hurt smeegul." i didn't even try to beat him up. there were other people tending to the kid so i left him there to pass out. i didn't want to stick around to add insult to injury. later he was walking around and sam made him stop drinking then he left quietly.
aaahhh.... the norwich punks...
