CRIDERSVILLE A heavy metal lead singer says Cridersville will become a new town for a day as the village hosts a March of Dimes motorcycle ride this month.
Dee Snider, lead singer of the metal band Twisted Sister, intends to host a March of Dimes motorcycle ride on Saturday, Aug. 21. Cridersvilles will turn into Snidersville for the day.
Snider is the 2010 Spokesperson for the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies fundraiser.
The event will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., as soon as Dee Snider arrives in Cridersville, Police Chief John Drake said. We will have an opening proclamation where Cridersville is named to Snidersville for the day.
The event features two bands, one of which is a metal, alternative band called Downtown Brown, and the other one is yet to be named, an auction, where items from Lima Harley Davidson will be auctioned off and autograph signing by Snider.
We are expecting a large crowd in town, Myers said.
The event will take place behind the Cridersville Fire Station, and Main Street will be blocked off from traffic for the motorcycle parking.
We are expecting 1,500 to 2,000 motorcycle bikers to participate in this event, Drake said.
In other business, village of Cridersville has recently created a Facebook page for residents.
We have more communication with our residents on our Facebook page than at our Cridersville Web site, Mayor Lorali Myer said. Im going to send out a letter to the residents of Cridersville and let them know where the different means of communication can be found, where they can interact and be kept informed of the town and events.
