I lost my best friend this morning. The woman I've known for almost 30 years and lived with for almost 20
died early this morning. It was probably a blood clot that got into either her heart or lungs. You die quickly when that happens. The reality hasn't really hit me yet...I'm still a bit numb.

I'm very sorry for your loss, and the suddenness of it. may you both know peace amidst the shock and grief; may your love remain undimmed by the unexpected distance

Oh honey. frown There are never the right words to help at a time like this. I wish I could give you a big hug. I will be praying for you and her family. <3

In the summer, I move around the house in full "commando" mode. (I'd do it in the backyard, too, but Kathy won't allow it.)
Anyway, a few days ago, Kathy happened to look at me from the right angle and she said, "Oooh, the walking you're doing is working! You've got a bit of a butt!"
I've been doing power walking most everyday this summer....

I had a nice thing happen to me today...

I've noticed, over the years, that...

By John Mauldin

I was on the ground in Spain a few weeks back, and then I ran into this piece in Spiegel
Online about a small, struggling town on the Spanish border with (British) Gibraltar.
This essay resonates in some of the same ways...

Just watched a movie, from 1970, The Ballad of Cable Hogue. Jason Robards, Stella Stevens and David Warner played the main characters. It was aired on the EWSTN channel. If you want to see a bit of nude Stella Stevens (and who wouldn't?), look up this movie. The Robards and Stevens characters were, at one point, actually singing (sort of) a love duet that I...

I got a compliment last nite, from a stranger. Which makes it even better.
The grocery store I go to is open, 24/7. I like to go late at nite. Big box stores are exhausting to me, and trying to avoid other people during normal hours is doubly so.
So, I go in the doors, and naturally look to my right, briefly, and there, maybe...
