In about a month I'm going on a road trip... A big one. I used to do long-distance couriering a few years back. I found the drives wonderfully therapeutic. There is something about driving all night to watch the sun rise in a new city... It's a good reminder that you're never stuck where you are. Letting thousands of miles pass underneath lends plenty of time to think, to sort everything out, even if you thought you had nothing unsorted. Complete with random stops along the way, lending their own mini adventures, finding out no, I still just don't like grits.

With my move to Cali steadily approaching, and a lot of looses ends here that still need tying up, I figured I should give myself another such opportunity for my highway meditation. I've planned out the Uber-trip, and I leave March 19th. Here's my rough Itinerary, and if anyone has any tips on crazy things to see on the way, or a good bar to stop in, or something cool happening in a town while I'm there (besides, obviously, me being there), do let me know.

March 19th- Chicago, IL (visiting my older sister)
March 20th- Nashville, TN (My cousin manages a club here that I'm pretty curious about)
March 21st- Haines City FL (visiting grandparents)
March 23rd- Austin, TX (No plans, never been there, just heard good things)
March 24th- Los Angeles, CA (Visiting my little sister)
March 25th- San Francisco (3 days of the GDC with my friend and his wife from Seattle, then seeing a british friend in Berkeley, all the while scouting for a neighborhood to move to (emeryville?). Lots of fun)
March 30th(roughly)- Las Vegas, NV (mostly just to pick up a set of glasses from the erotic heritage museum)
March 31st- Salt Lake City, UT (visiting a fabulous friend and mooning the Mormon temple)
April 3rd- Rapid City, SD (Haven't been since i was eight, and have no plans or poeple here)
April 4th-Home

Google maps told me it was 6,666 miles... really. Good thin Satan's not real.

So... Any suggestions?
