I have been congested and my allergies and sinuses are acting up aaaand as if the day couldn't start off any worse...
I was going through some work stuff on my computer when I noticed a co-worker needing some assistance (despite her not asking for any.) She appeared to need a font for a graphic she was completing and after a short search, I found it on my computer. After asking kindly if I would do so, I emailed it to her. I opened a new window for an email message, attached the font and off went the message with the attachment. All this and then I quickly noticed that instead of sending it to her, I noticed that the subject line changed from her name to "Everyone".
Before I could see what "Everyone" entailed, I had approximately 35 messages in my Inbox. Maybe about two dozen were undeliverable addresses that had yet to be purged from the system. A handful of people responded by email and two people called me - a sales manager at our local office as well as an account manager from our corporate office. His concern was that my name was linked to an email virus to which I kindly had to apologize for the error I had made.
My girlfriend, who works in the same facility, alerted me. "You do realize that you sent that message to EVERYONE in the company, right?" I sent a quick follow-up email... again, to everyone in the company (approximately 650 people nationwide) ...apologizing for my error, what the email was and who it was for.
All in all, I managed to escape complete ridicule and yet somehow I just wanted to crawl under my desk into the fetal position.
