Ahhhh... another Monday. Totally wanted to play hooky today and skip work with the g/f, but it was looking like she wouldn't keep up her end of the pact. Too many things to do today and someone had to be responsible.
I got to work knowing what exactly was going to be in store for me and I was busy from the start. A long morning led to a late lunch and we got to eat quietly and in peace as we missed the lunch rush. While sitting down to eat, my g/f picked up what looked like a guide to classes. It was a continuing studies guide at Rice University. She thumbed through it and showed me some programs she might be interested and as I glanced at the cover, the word "languages" caught my eye. Calmly she handed the guide over to me and picked up another guide for herself. Without hesitation I flipped to the section on language and saw that they were offering three levels of courses for eight languages at an 8-week clip. The next classes would begin in March.
A quiet personal goal of mine is to learn five different languages. With English and Spanish under my belt, I've tried my hand at a few others: Swedish, Russian, Italian, Portuguese (probably the one with which I've had the most success understanding of these four.) I have about a month before registration ends. So now is the time to scrape some dough together and put my money where my mouth is.
