So yesterday, out of the blue I got called into the district manager's office to discuss my happiness with the company (of which at this point has been very minimal for the past few months.) Of course I voiced this to her and she asked what it was that would make my job easier - new software, faster computer, vacation, etc. I fumbled through what might make the workflow better, but to no avail. I wasn't exactly thinking on my feet either out of exhaustion or simply being disgruntled enough to NOT want to help the situation.
In any case, she asked that I sleep on it, think about it and come up with a list of things that would make my job easier. When I got home I discussed this little meeting with my girlfriend, who also happens to work at the same place. Seems that someone seeped my less than secret attitude toward my job to the manager and we whittled it down to one person, though I'm not looking to blamestorm. It is what it is.
Needless to say, she and I talked about the things that could make the job better and it boiled down to trained personnel, effective communication and tools (i.e. computer stuff.) After about a half hour, we tapered the discussion to an end before breaking off and winding down for the night.
A full day of work and not one moment to carry out the wishes to improve my work environment. Not another call from the manager or anything else of that sort.
Yet another example of lack of follow through from within the company.
Ho hum.
