crazy timing.
so i've been contracting for UT for 9 months now. and my contract is about to run out of money and can't be renewed until september.
so to get around that, they offered me a part-time job, starting june 1st, where i would work 19 hours (no more, no less) every week until august 31st, when they'd rewrite my contract and i could...

This jeff person sounds nice, and it is good that you had a friend like him, everyone needs a friend like that in their life.

yeah. i wish we were still friends but at least i got to know him at some point in my life.
for the last week, i've had 2 lines from a postal service song stuck in my head:
"don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future. you know i can't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures."
mmm, postal service.

i'm so preoccupied right now with whether i'm really going to be able to scrape together enough money to go to sf in 2 weeks. it might be that in order to pay bills that are due right around then, i have to be home to open the mail to cash the paychecks that would make it possible to pay those bills.

i DO need a yeti. i also need direct deposit. i also need to get my shit in gear.
everyone has asked about whether i could just get a friend to deposit the checks for me. i probably could (i have VERY nice friends) but i also just underestimated how much STUFF i have to do to my truck before i could leave for a road trip. $200+ worth of stuff. which is manageable if i can spread it over a month, but not in the next 2 weeks in addition to paying the ticket and paying my bills and going to new orleans.
but it's okay! I WILL PREVAIL. i'm going to ft. worth to see dplan there, so at least i'll see more than just the austin show.

a birthday party tonight and then a housewarming party tomorrow night. i think this might be another weekend where a whiskey bottle chases me around for 48 hours.

hangover hoodoo run-devil-run recipe from several years ago:
- wake up
- cold shower
- black coffee + shot of wild turkey
- 1 bowl of red menudo chased with one ceviche tostada (preferably from Beto's Taqueria off 4th street in Reno)
worked like a charm.

WHISKEY ON MY TAIL AGAIN SOS
my closet is becoming boring. i'm wearing a plain dark tank top with plain dark pants for the 4th day in a row.
it's harder to be creative, clothing-wise, in the texas summer when the goal is to wear the least amount of clothing as possible. around the house, i just wear slips, but i have to be a bit more clothed for work.

i dyed my hair blond sunday night. i don't know how successfully i did it; it seems to be too fake to look natural and too normal to look freakish so it's in that nebulous no man's land where you can't tell if this is what i MEANT it to look like. i should have gone for black instead. i just needed a drastic change....

Glad nobody was hurt in that accident.
Maybe you should just bleach your hair really extremely light, go all the way so everyone will know you meant to do it that way. Then you have all sorts of options as far as really bright colors go....if you like really bright colors in your hair, that is.
In any case, welcome to SG. That's all I really came to say.

LE has wisely consulted that i go dark pink. i'm thinking that since i work in a conservative office, i should dye it dark red black except for the crown of my head, which would be dark pink. i've done that a few times before (with blue-black highlighted with blue) and really liked it.
my friend just got accepted there for some grad work
she is stoked
i want to join her
i miss austin
