Shine On, Syd
I was sad to hear of the passing of Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett the other day. Although not a big fan of the band's later work (at least, after I discovered Punk) I have always loved their first album "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" and much of his solo work too shows his fragile genius.
He was one of the great English songwriters as well as a fantastic but under-rated guitar player (just listen to some of his playing on "Piper"). He was a big influence on many artists as diverse as David Bowie, Pete Townshend, Brian Eno, The Damned, Soundgarden, Phish, Marc Bolan, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Libertines, The Flaming Lips, R.E.M., and Pearl Jam as well as many others.
He had been a recluse for the last 30 years suffering from mental health problems although he had more recenty started painting again.
If you've never heard of him, you really should try to hear some of his stuff.

Yeah- another shoot would be cool! am still struggling getting through the most recent batch- I'm putting in little magic sparkles to give the set the impression of being more of a 'show' if you know what i mean...
