after reading a thread in which the participants disagreed on what may or may not be appropriate i decided to ask the question:
Why do we pay a monthly fee to access this site and what do we get out of it? it is not hardcore porn, but it ain't the quilting club either.
to answer my own question, i signed up because i like to look at naked people, peircings, tattoos, scars, and real people. there is a fuzzy line between erotic and pornographic. most porn focuses on the mechanics, with the artifice showing through. a lot of erotica just plain isn't graphic enough for me.
what i found here was a community where finding like minded individuals was easy and genuine. i am a lonely single dad. i never expected to find a peer group here who understands and sympathizes. but that is exactly what i found! i found other groups i fit into also.
for me the people make the site not the pics, but i like the pics because they show the people. (sorry i have no pics of my own yet, i am the great procrastinator). i am also copying this to my journal, because that allows me to put myself out there too.

A frequent criticism of porn is that it objectifies women, as u say; focuses on the mechanics, but here there is a sense of real people, with attitude and personality behind the (lovely) pics.
the community here is genrally one of people who have something to say, sometimes opinionated, but always individual and rarely boring.
