Hey everyone,
I hope that all of you are doing fine...
On this day, which in the US is a federal holiday known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a holiday that celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. MLK Jr had a dream that in which he stated that one day "All people will not be judged by the color of their skins, but rather by the content of their character."
With the election of Barrack Obama who is the first Black Man to become President of the United States and his upcoming inauguration on January 20, 2009, the question remains has MLK Jr's dream come true? Have we truly made it to what MLK Jr referred to as "The Promise Land"?
At the risk of raining on every one's parade, the answer Is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is still a strong and sick undercurrent of racism in the US. There is still inequality in America... And there is still the greatest evil America has not found a way to overcome --- poverty!!!!!
I have said what I have said not to make people depressed. I say this to remind everyone that we still have a long ways to go. We can not give up the fight for justice and equality for all people. We can not afford to allow America to stay on the racist path to our ultimate destruction!!!!! We can not allow poverty to continue to run rampant in America!!!!!
That is all I have to say...
From way out in left field, I am jjscholar.
