All good things must come to an end...
I have been on vacation for the past week and it has been great... The best thing about being on vacation is that I was able to sleep in until at least 6:30AM EST... I normally get up at 4:00AM EST.
I was even able to keep myself from being totally bored... I had an appointment with a truck driving school on Tuesday 2-20-07... The only problem is that I have to get my current primary doctor to sign a release stating that it is safe for me to drive large cargo trucks... This is because I take medication to combat high blood pressure... It will take time because I have only seen my doctor only once... In addition, my doctor will also want to see me to go over the results of some blood work that I had done on Wednesday 2-21-07... If I am diabetic, my doctor may not be wiling to sign a release for me... US Department of Transportation has very strict rules that all commercial vehicles drivers have to follow... I have to be medically fit to even be able to enter truck driving school...
If that doesn't work out, I am thinking about talking to the Cocoa area theatrical production workers association to see if I can get into an apprenticeship program for lighting technicians... Being a lighting technician would also not be a bad way to go -- career wise...
The thing is that I cannot stay at my present support services job forever... There have been government cutbacks where I work at and more than likely there will be no future at all...
But right now, I am not worried about that...
At least last night (2-24-07,) I was able to attend bowling tournament organized by Space Gateway Support (SGS,) which is one of the main contractor companies at KSC and CCAFS. The tournament's purpose was to raise money for Junior Achievement. For those who don't live in the US, Junior Achievement is a future business leaders organization... Donations were given either through buying raffle tickets or pledging so much money for the scores of one or more people who played three complete games of bowling within a three hour period...
The only problem was that none of the members of my team showed up... And they were SGS employees. I work in a completely different work group. But I was allowed to join another team and it was fun...
I had not bowled for over 14 years... We played three games and my scores were 74, 101, and 103.. At least my scores raised about $25 at a rate about 10 cents per pin... I bought five dollars worth or raffle tickets...
I hate to say this but I am not looking forward to going back to work... I have heard from a co worker that the situation at CCAFS has been like being in a war zone and I am going to leave it at that... But I will say one thing: that is the reason why I have high blood pressure...
