This past week, life around Central Florida has been quite exciting... The excitment was mostly because of Saturday night's launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery... The building that I work at houses a NASA/USAF contractor responsible for Shuttle support services. The weather caused a two day delay in the launch. But the weather on Saturday night could not have been any better. At 8:47PM EST on Saturday December 9, 2006, the Space Shuttle Discovery was sucessfully launched from SLC 39-B... The view from my apartment complex was not bad... My apartment complex is located about 35 miles SSW of the Shuttle's launch complex. I was able to see the flame trail produced by the Shuttle immediately after lift off... It looked like a supernova that had brighten a night's sky... Well that's about enough of that...
Hopefully, all of you are doing well this holiday season...
I am sort of boycotting Christmas this year... It is not the Christian aspect of the holiday that bothers me... The birth of Jesus is the only thing about the X-mas holiday season that I can stomach anymore... There is way too much commericalism and way too much stupidity going on at this time of year... Didn't any of you hear about three people killing each of in Detroit over some stupid PS3 game consoles? Worst of all, there are those stupid giant plastic snow globe things that people can put on their front lawns. They only cost about $100 US and they seem to be designed to be used only once. PTB once wrote: "There is a sucker born every minute." And with the commericalism of this year X-mas season, it is quite clear that PTB's quote is quite true.
Besides, I prefer New Year's Eve...
Well that's all for now...
