That's very cool that you create your own mythologies and back stories for creatures. I love coming up with new alien races for my sci-fi stories; thinking about their homeworld, their culture(s) and history. It's a double-edged sword, though hehe. Sometimes I get so side-tracked thinking about a new creature, or coming up with an elaborate backstory for what is a relatively minor character, that I lose sight of the original story line I was working on
