Back to golf. I mean, I went back and played some golf . . . this morning! Jim, one of the guys I play with, was having such a bad round that he quit on the tenth hole. Golf can be pretty tough sometimes. But Ross and I played on.
I'd gotten a few black eyes on the front nine myself. Three three-putts, a triple bogey and two doubles.
Here's my advice on playing golf. Do the best you can on each hole; and don't allow yourself to lose your composure.
It's a lot harder than it sounds. But lately I've been able to do it. I think because I came to the realization after 50 years of playing golf that I don't like golf. THERE! I got it out.
So I had a 79 last week, and today on the last hole I said to Ross, "I need an eagle to shoot 79." I had just missed a five foot putt for a birdie on 16. I did not hit the greatest drive in the world, but my second shot was fantastic and rolled up to about two feet from the hole. Just missed an eagle!
Made that putt for the birdie and shot 80 with a 36 on the back nine -- even par. Oh, well . . .I'm averaging 79-1/2 for my last two rounds.
