well birthday was kind of a non-event, i'm not much of a party person so i didnt end up doing much which was nice.. i dig the low-key life..mostly..
went on a road trip on the weekend with Lissi. we jumped in the 4WD on saturday morning and headed north via The Great Lakes, ie Foster / Tuncurry, Crowdy Head / Harrington, Camden Haven, Bonny Hills, Lake Cathie and then stayed the night in Port Macquarie. on the way up we saw humpback whales, doing their annual migration thing, off Crowdy Head.. we did a bit of a tour of Port Macquarie on saturday afternoon, was strange seeing all the places i used to hang out when i was growing up.. there were a few "thats where i got caught smoking when i was 15" type moments..
sunday morning we did the walk around Sea Acres Rainforest, then headed out to The Billabong Wildlife Park so that Lissi could see some 'Stralian wildlife up close. she got to pat a koala, a kangaroo, and a wallaby. after that we headed back down the pacific highway to Taree where we headed inland for The Barrington Tops. we had a nice scenic drive through the mountains there, it was raining and we were on a dirt road and damn was i enjoying that.. we stopped up at the top at Devils Hole Lookout and fuck me was it cold there.. i reckon it was maybe 3 degrees, but what a nice view.. there was loads of low cloud cover but what we could see was picturesque.. after that we kep heading inland toward Scone and had a bit of a drive around the back of the Hunter Valley..
anyways, to cut a long story short, it was a good weekend with a good friend, and a butt load of driving..
back to reality now.. got a reasonably busy week ahead.. off to Melbourne tomorrow for a load of meetings, back Friday afternoon some time.. hopefully catch up with a few friends while i'm down south..
thats about it from me.. enjoy some pictures from the weekend.. (damn, 530 pixels is too wide, check them in my pics if you want to see them properly)
stay cool
