Went and got Cherry's 3 month vaccinations last monday, on Friday morning she woke up with a huge lump on her shoulder...when I say huge I mean HUGE.. It was almost the size of my fist..
Took her to the vets, they gave her some antihystemene tablets and said "its most likely a reaction to the vaccination, and the tablets should take care of it....come back if its not starting to go down tomorrow"
Woke up on Saturday morning, yesterday, and the lump looked like it had gone down... All was going well... About 11am I noticed she'd been scratching at it and it was starting to bleed a little.. I rang the vets, they were closed.. Rang another vets and they're like "bring her in straight away"..
After sitting around the waiting room for an hour or so we finally got in to see the vet, she pushed on the lump and Cherry squirmed a little.. The lump was fairly hard so they didnt think it was all fluidy, but she wanted to put a needle in it just to be sure.. She put the needle in and drew out the most disgusting, foul smelling, grey / black pus you've ever seen..
They took her in for surgery to clean all the crap out and treat the infection, they put a drain in (a piece of rubber tubing) and gave her a bunch of antibiotics.. $550 later we go pick her up, get all the instructions from the vet, and head off home..
We were having a house warming lastnight, I managed to get hold of everyone and postpone it for a week or two..
Lastnight I got barely any sleep cause we had to keep cleaning up the wound and stopping her from scratching and biting at it..
Anyway, here's some photos..
Not for the weak stomached...
You've been warned..
