Damn... The past week has been chaotic. The Paris attack was just a terrible thing, absolutely terrible, and the same goes for the innocent suffering in Syria. I understand that the refugees need a place to be safe, but sending them here is a huge risk to take.
It's been a very busy weekend, especially when France began their airstrikes. Our order queues have been overflowing, and we now have award winning producers who want even more awards... So the hit us with very elaborate orders that are due in an unrealistic timeframe. I'm so exhausted after yesterday.
We also had to deal with a 62 year old, for the 3rd weekend in a row, who needs to retire. He's become very agitated with working here, been working for NBC his whole career, and he takes out his frustration on the office staff. He doesn't do anything physical, he just comes in very negatively energetic. Begins sarcastically talking shit about us and won't quiet down for almost a full hour, then it's pockets of 10-15 minute sessions. The first weekend I tried to be nice and calm him, but all that did was make me the primary target of his blathering for the next two weekends, cause he got a response out of me... I should of known better, shit! Because he's now been throwing me under the bus when he makes his new weekly appearance in the bosses office. This old man wants to be fired, and he's planning on taking someone with him. Go figure: try to be nice, and you end up getting the shaft. That's very much the world we currently live in, though.
So yeah... Got a new car, this weekend. It's a 2015 Dodge Charger SRT. Love it. Rides very nice, has all these cool functions and electronics that may come back and haunt me (electronics always have issues). Getting 31mpg in the highway, so that's awesome, and it's go a v6. Love this car. Feel kinda bad, though. People suffered in France and in the Middle East, and some white boy bought himself a new car and is bitching about work problems. Yeah, first world problems, I guess...
Well, with the refugees coming to America, I'm sure we'll have to watch our backs as well. Anything could happen the moment their chariot lands here. Freedom from the fear of the extremists, or fear of the freedom for the extremists. I would be happy for those who want to be here for safety and a better life, but its terrifying to imagine the damage if even a small sum of them had other intentions.
I have a cousin who is about to hit his first tour in the navy. I know he'll be safe, but still worries me.
