usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the worst days of the week at work. So busy, let alone our manpower dropped on Wednesday. The week would be a typical crappy week if it was not for my annual review. I got an amazing review at work, and I got a good raise as well... I guess all that hard work paid off.
They also opened up a Senior Graphic Artist position there, most likely they want one of us full timers to take the slot. Having someone in a position that requires knowledge of our workflow is very important. Hiring someone outside would be great to add more influence in art perspective, but they most likely have no clue how to run the apps we use to make maps, work with the materials we use for daily news, and have each station's guides down perfect... The last one is always an ongoing change in guides, so I guess that one may not found as much... If I had a penny for every time we changed out standards...
Anyway, a coworker, the only senior designer on staff, asked me if I applied for it yet. I've only been in this business for 2 years and I'm not sure if I'm ready to advance this quickly. It's awesome that people want me to apply, but I'm barely keeping myself together as a fulltime designer. Can never tell what a producer should get over what they want... That's also because we make way too many special cases out of what producers want... If they whine enough. Idk... I keep telling myself not to be around after 5 years, but something tells me I may be in for the long haul. It's a respectable and good job, it's just very tedious and frustrating.
So my Mother's dog, Xena, has been doing better. She is so adorable. Just the other day she came to me and curled up at my feet as I was standing, pressing herself against my leg. Picked her up and she let herself relax in my arms. I could tell she was comfortable, she almost becomes dead weight when you pick her up and hold her.
Ah well... Have something to look forward to, this week... A half day on Friday. I may spend most of that half day trying to get back home through the horrible 7p traffic in Fort Worth 182-820... They'll never get that damned construction done, I swear. But at least I can enjoy a few more hours of time off before work on Saturday.
