As much as I love the holidays, im glad their pretty much over. I spent so much money on presents, food, and gas, but all for the spirit of the season. Its nice to give, and know that there are people who think of you as well, but the price can be a little hefty... Especially when you have plenty of friends who want to exchange gifts. Anyway...
Trying to motivate myself into working on my next project, and it's been highly difficult. A couple of friends got me into playing a video game named league of Legends. It's fun as hell, but at the same time it's so addictive that I spent all day today playing it. I have a project due for a couple of school mates who need a HUD design for their game, as well as some other work. It does not pay, obviously, but it's helping a couple of people out and keeping my rep at the school up.
The GSP students think they can do everything, that is up until their director tells them that their concept art, layout, visuals, and HUD suck. I hated hearing that when I was in GSP, but most of my work was half assed anyway. So i got into a little argument with a GSP student (game and simulation programming) over Photoshop and a few techniques of how to demonstrate good rendering and blending. Instead of knowing, the GSP student went online and copied someone else's work and said "when we have the Internet, there is no need for artists".... Yeah... When i asked him to draw a space scape shot on a machine that had no connection, he had no where to turn. Let alone... He could not even draw free hand. Sadly, even the director of GSP told me that people need to stop thinking that programming is the way into designing games. It's great to know, but programmers are a dime a dozen these days. Everyone who enjoys a little math know programming in C++ or C#. i learned it, then i went back to ActionScript...
Anyway, it's just like what the Director of WGD (web graphic deisng) said, " When you work around programmers, a percentage of them are going to act like they are beyond you, that graphic artists are not necessary when the right tools are out there." sadly, these types of people are just assholes and are jealous of your talent with creativity, precision, and attention to detail. Although I, myself, am jealous of their ability to understand how to contruct OOP so well, and without flaw. I tried my hand at coding, loved it, but i can't learn this stuff within 8 weeks... Would take me a year or so.
Otter then all that jazz...
I graduated from WGD with an associate degree on the 17th. Was an awesome night, especially when i walked on stage. Typically, i was not nervous at the start, but when everyone began to shake and freak out about going on stage... That's when it kicked it.... Hate that. Ah well... If i can land a good design job in the area, things would be so much better. Continue with a bachelor program, find an apartment, and move on...
So that's about it...
Beginning to feel a litte sick, ,my nose is congested and i am building a lot of body heat...
Have a wonderful new year y'all
