Let's talk about families traditions..
Hallacas, this is my traditional dinner from my country π»πͺ it is basically a cornmeal tamale with a stew inside (literally made any kind of food)
And what are they made of? People ask me. I just sigh, I say the ingredients hoping that people imagine something that has no description in the universe...
And with a lump in my throat I think of that long table stained with onoto (it's a yellow thing that gives them color) and I say to myself, they are made of laughter, of stories, of my mom's screams saying "don't talk near to the food" while she eats the raisins, they are made of infinite love in a long night where everyone stays until the end to eat the first ones in the early morning... It's a whole family work but they are "my mom's hallacas" because she got tired the night before making the stew and making sure they didn't eat it and making it at the same time more enough because she knows they are going to eat it..
How much I miss all in my crazy house in Venezuela, tonight, what a long December this time grabbed me.. But despite everything it continues to be my favorite month.
What about yours crazy traditions?
