Dear mother of all hangovers.
Last night, I raged.
With Flogging Molly.
The bassist is sweet on my sister and we all went out before the show they were playing yesterday. We went to a high end restaurant, where I couldn't afford a damn thing on the super fancy menu. I decided I was just going to drink beers.
I had been complaining how hungry I was before I got a look at the menu. So the guys were surprised when I didnt order food. I told them I was just a broke kid and the place was too expensive for me. They offered to buy me food, but I declined. I told them I wasnt used to taking freebies. So I just sat and bullshitted with them while enjoying some brews. Shots were bought, and drank, and we were having a good time. When everyones food showed up, I'm sure I was looking like a fat kid in a cake shop. Someone asked for an extra plate, and when it arrived they said "pride goeth before the fall" and everyone took a portion of their food and put it on the plate and they passed it to me. "No one is buying you anything, we are sharing what is ours", Nathan said. They found a loophole in my arguement. I ate. Very well. And it was very good.
They gave me an all access pass to the show. I got to sit behind the sound board. I used to run the multitracker for my own band.. and I'm a total nerd.. so I was mesmerized by it. Their sound guy, Chris, is a super awesome guy and noticed my interest and showed me how the big boards work.. giving me the run down on how he pre-programs the levels for each song. It was kick ass. I love music and tech, running a board would feel natural to me.
After the show we went backstage and enjoyed some moonshine. VIP fans were let in and we all had a great time.
I had to work this morning at 9:30. I felt like dogshit. Somewhere along the line I took a fall and left a huge bruise on my ass (I hope it was a fall, anyways). I've been trying to get rid of this hangover all day. I even made my sister stop my McDonalds last night on the way home, hoping some sleepytime food would ward it off. But no. Nothing is stopping it.
I remember when I could drink for 3 days straight and end up with a 1 day hangover.. These days I drink for 1 day and have a 3 day hangover. Getting old is a son of a bitch.
Just ask the guys in Flogging Molly.

It's the price of hitting 30 - just a few years a go I could have multiple 4-hours-of-sleep-then-work nights in a row. Now, if I don't get to bed before 2AM I'm hurting at work.
