my top metal picks for 2014.... it's been a phenomenal year for metal. just phenomenal. bands that you thought were dead are coming back with a fucking vengeance!!! at the gates, sanctuary, decapitated, belphegor, judas priest, the haunted, accept, exodus, bloodbath.... it's endless!!! and it's not like they're just putting out mediocre releases, but rather every album feels new, fresh, alive, and rejuvenated, but here's been my fav's:
1. Iced Earth - 'Plagues of Babylon'
2. Bloody Hammers - 'Under Satan's Sun'
3. Sanctuary - 'The Year the Sun Died'
4. At the Gates - 'At War With Reality'
5. Black Label Society - 'Catacombs of the Black Vatican'
6. Judas Priest - 'Redeemer of Souls'
7. The Haunted - 'Exit Wounds'
8. Obituary - 'Inked in Blood'
9. Bloodbath - 'Grand Morbid Funeral'
10. Decapitated - 'Blood Mantra'
there were a few disappointments: Evergrey really came out with a meh album. so much hype, and just a let down. whatevs. sebastian bach did what he knows, nothing new, as much as i love the guy. orange goblin did orange goblin. it was good, just not as good as they could be. even chrome division i felt lost it a bit. but hey, that's just me.
