One of my odd pleasures is revisiting places from my past, to see if they still exist and, if so, to see how they've changed, if at all. The best example of this is that, when I was in my last year of college, I had a girlfriend who had a lovely little apartment in West Campus in Austin. Even though the relationship didn't work out, I have very fond memories of cinnamon rolls and slow brewed chickory coffee on Saturday mornings. I like to walk past that apartment when I visit Austin, and when I see that building still standing, almost exactly the way I remember it, amidst all the change that has happened around it, I can't help but feel an ache in my heart as I remember those Saturday mornings. And I wonder if, at times, I'll feel something similar as I get reacquainted with this site.
