If you saw my last blog, then you know that I spent my weekend being a wild woman....go figure!
I'll start with my concert on Sunday, since I'm kind of short on time this morning but wanted to get these pictures posted and give ya'll the 411 on the show....My daughter qtshooter and I took a road trip to Boise, or just west of Boise in Nampa, ID, to see an outdoors festival. Here we are just arriving, after a three and a half hour drive:

and the venue*****************************************************************
The show included the following bands:
Seether, Shinedown, Sick Puppies, Red, Hurt and a few others that I'd not really heard of before (you know the ones, the bands that open on the second stage at 4:30 when the gates first open) Anyway, it was abso-freakin'-lutely an amazing show!! The weather was perfect for an outdoor concert, beautiful blue skies and hot without being too hot. I kind of felt sorry for the dummies that did not sunscreen first, they were pretty easy to pick out of the crowd after about the first 45 minutes or so as they turned deeper and deeper shades of red and purple Just kind of makes you wanna go...."UH....hello... 6 hour long outdoors concert in Southern Idaho during August, and it didn't occur to you to use sunscreen first?? DEE-DEE-DEE! " But...I digress.
Qtshooter and I got there just shortly after the gates opened, which turned out to be perfect because we were able to walk right in and right past the throngs of people who were gathered just inside the gate to watch the local band that had won that opening slot on the second stage that I mentioned above. We were starving, but decided that we'd go stake out a spot for our blanket and chair first and then worry about the rest...and I'm glad we did because we found a spot on a just perfect grassy little hill that had just enough slope so that you would see over the people in front of you, and were both able to see the main stage very well
After we got settled in, found some food and bought some shirts the first band started on the main stage. They were just OK, so it worked out perfectly for us that their time slot on stage was the time slot that Seether was in the autograph booth down on the main grassy area....so I bailed on qtshooter and hopped in the line that was for-EVAR long to get Seether's autographs for the both of us. Was able to get some phone pictures, sorry they aren't great quality but you can only do so much with a camera phone!

**********************************************************************************
The lead singer was SO awesome about letting people take pictures with him, but honestly after watching him do it for 30 minutes solid, I just didn't have the heart to make him do it again! I was one of the last people in the line before they cut it off, and kind of just felt lucky to have had the chance to get some autographs and take the pictures that I did! And I gotta say that they were all TEH Nicest guys...The bass player saw the SG tank top that I was wearing and busted into a big smile and said "I love your shirt!", as it would turn out he's a big, big SG fan as well
I got back to my seat just in time for the Sick Puppies, who are one of my favorite bands EVAR! This was the second time that I've seen them, and they never, never, never disappoint. They just plain flatout ROCK on stage, and they sound just everybit as good live as they do on their debut CD "Dressed up as Life". If you do not have that CD yet, I'm telling you it's one of the best debut CD's you will ever have the pleasure of listening to, I can't stress it enough how great it is...every single song on it it really, really good. OK, shameless Sick Puppies plug is over now...back to the show
***********************************************************************************
They played for about 45 minutes, and by the time they were done the whole place was on their feet...jumping, screaming and moshing down in the pit. Sick Puppies played most of their CD, along with a cover of "Say my name" by Destiny's Child that is actually really very good. We had a ball! I would see them again, anyday, anytime, anywhere!!
Once they were off stage, they headed down for their turn in the autograph booth and through a struck of great luck, qtshooter and I ended up first in line for them. (long story)
*********************************************************************************
Again, they were all really incredibly cool about being there to sign even though it was in the mid-nineties and they had just gotten off stage and were drenched in sweat. Simon' the lead singer reached up and grabbed my daughter's hand and kissed it while sayin' thank you to her, and I think she just about passed out on the spot from her excitement! Can't say that I blame her, cuz he's a really hawtie
Next up was Shinedown, and I have to be honest and tell you that I wasn't AS thrilled to see them as I was Sick Puppies and Seether But.....they put on one of the best show's I've seen in a really long time! I'm SO bummed because I was able to catch clips of the show on my cellphone, but have yet to figure out a way to get them off the phone and uploaded, so you'll just have to settle for a picture instead:
*********************************************************************************
I was really very impressed that Shinedown made a very special effort on more than one occasion to let everyone their know that they were dedicating the show to the members of the armed services that were there home on leave from Iraq and Afghanistan...and I thought that was really very cool I've not picked up their new CD yet, but am planning to after seeing the show!
Next up was Seether as the headliner, and they put on one hella show as well! One of the reasons that I love them is that they have so many types of sounds and songs, and they played most all of there singles off each of their three (?) CD's. The one and only thing I'd say was kind of a bummer was that they played way too many extended intro's to their songs, but other than that they were right on the money and just lit that place up with a light show that you wouldn't believe!!
If you've got a chance to see any of these bands, ya just gotta go! They all just freakin' ROCKED that place
So, this is the place in my blog where I get a little sappy...so be warned!
I spent the WHOLE entire time I was there on Sunday thinking about Flashmo, and wishing that he was there with me... I felt so guilty having fun while he was stuck in VanNyes by himself and just missed him terribly. It just doesn't matter what it is that I am doing, it's just not the same without him by my side
Well, gotta run and get ready for my doctor's appointment this morning...so the story about getting lost on the way back in the little town from the twilight zone will have to wait for another day
Much loves to you all...especially to my favorite lurker, you know who you are!
