Gah! 13 and a half hours on an airplane does not a happy Jerry make. If you ever go to Asia, make damn sure you want to, cause the flight across the Pacific is long and boring.
Anyway, got into town and saw my mom, sister, and nephew...hugs all around. Dinner (Applebee's), into bed. Friday, last minute Christmas shopping, general tooling about. Sarturday, my brother-in-laws work Chris...oops, Holiday Party. Now, a social butterfly I ain't, and almost nothing is worse than going to a party where you only know three other people there. And not helping matters was the fact that my brother-in-law didn't want to be there either. So Saturday night was a bust, party-wise. Sunday was the "Welcome Back From Korea" party for yours truly thrown by Mom. My dad's whole side of the family, who's left anyway, seemed to have shown up. Cousins I haven't seen in over a decade and a half showed, people I haven't seen in years were there, new spouses, the works. I had a much better time than I thought I would. My family dynamic is odd to say the least, and you never can tell what's going to happen when you get a room full of us together. Tonight is Mom's work Christmas Party. I'll be escorting her. It's a chance for her to show me off and tell everybody how proud she is of her service-member son. It makes me slightly uncomfortable when she does that (I don't tend to wear my service on my sleeve after all), but I'll suck it up tonight I suppose. Tomorrow Mom is taking off work. We're going to visit my dad's grave, then head to my brother's house for a little socializing.
I am still without vehicle. My brother was kind enough to agree to both store my Jeep and do some work on it while I was gone. Well, between my ordering the parts maybe a little later than I should have, his slight procrastination, and just dumb, bad luck my Jeep isn't ready...yet. That's what's on tap for tomorrow, going over to my brother's and working on my Jeep. And if need be, we'll work on it on Christmas Day to get it done. I need my Jeep back.
Well, Happy Holidays to you all. I'll be checking in when time allows. Love to you and yours.
