Life is a journey...
Sometimes in life the road from where you are to where you want to be leads you through somewhere you'd rather no go. Kinda like the good bar being in the bad part of town. That's what this year has been for me. I took the first definitive steps towards getting out of Korea today, and it felt as though a years worth of stones had been lifted from my shoulders.
Now, to be fair to Korea, it's no where near all bad here. The country itself is ruggedly beautiful, and the mountain biking is fabulous. The people are nice, if not stoic, and the culture is interesting (to say the least). All of the negatives I have about coming here deal with work.
I feel good about things I've done here (promotion, degree, bigger savings account), and somewhat melancholy about others (*gyfs*). All in all though I'd have to say that this hasn't been the worse year of my life, and the fact that it's almost over brings me more than a little joy.
