I hate the way I feel when I go into work. I haven't felt this way about work in a long time. Apathetic and unmotivated. I despise that feeling in me.
I gave a brief to the guys (and girl) today that basically said that our supervision (i.e. management) do NOT have our best interests at heart. They will push and push until somebody fucks up or somebody dies and they'll point the finger squarely at you. They will relieve themselves of all responsibility and let you hang. They'll take the credit for all the good things, and fuck you right in the ass if you make a mistake.
I will not allow any of my troops to fall on a sword for these assholes. Everything we do now is by the letter of the book. If a job takes 5 hours, then for fuck's sake, it's taking five hours. If we start losing sorties (flights) because we're doing everything by the numbers, oh well.
"Oh, so it's going to be like that now," they say. Yep, it's going to be like that, because they've made it clear that it has to be that way. There are short cuts that one takes, a bending of the rules one does to help support production, but that shit goes both ways. Scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. Not, "I'm gonna take everything you have, ask you to do th impossible, and instead of thanking you, I'm gonna ask for more." That shit don't fly and those days are gone. We are under-funded, under-trained, under-manned, and unfortunately, under-lead. I have five months left, and I'll dread every day until the day I get on a plane and get of this penninsula.
OK, rant over. It rained all last night, and it looks like rain again this evening. I'd give anything to go down a slip & slide, watch some fireworks, dance, eat, drink, and be merry. December's coming. Bet your ass.
