OOOO the teepee is going to be awsome! Whos sleeping in my shelter?
I started building/experimenting with sizes tonite. So far its going to be 16 foot high, about 14 foot in diameter covered in tan canvas and possiby some brown poly tarp at the botton couple feet. This will help protect the canvas from the ground. The poles for now are small trees, but the final build will be pvc pipe. This will allow it to be broken down into manageable poles. I am planning on building a plywood coupling to set the poles at the top, this will also keep more rain from coming in the top opening. I am also putting indoor/outdoor carpeting for a floor. It will also help in taking the guess work out of the circumference when i set it up.
I found i am not nearly in as good of shape as before i sold the house. I cut and dragged 7 poles out of the woods and i was panting. It only took me an hour, but i used to work like that 14-16 hours a day. I cut three deuce and a half dump truck loads in ten hours without even exerting myself. Now i would fall over dead. Guess i need to start exercising if i am going to work a desk job.
What can i say, i am turning into a slather ass and i hate it.
I didn't know Delaware water gap was a national recreation area. I thought it was national forest like around here. I did some checking to see about getting a firewood permit in the area but that idea is out. I thought it would be a good idea to leave the campsite and cut 2-3 truckloads. Save everyone some cash by not having to buy firewood. Maybe while i am down there i'll sneek into a town and find some pallets.
If noone is riding with me i might leave late Wednesday night so i can get there first thing thursday. It doesn't look like anyone willl be coming with me as i am too far away from any active members and noone around here will go. I mention it and they all bicker because its not free camping. Saying "why drive all that way to camp when camping around here is free." Owell guess they will miss out.
Well thats it for today. If im not around much its cause the teepee project and its also been nice weather.
