So I've had a flea problem in my high-rise. I bombed twice over the holiday. The kitties are on the Front-line so I'm the one getting bitten. Plus my older kitty is recently diagnosed as diabetic and I'm trying to get his whole deal balanced so he's not himself.
I had an exterminator come on Tuesday morning and my OWN cat bit me (I picked him up too quickly and startled him, I suppose). He bit me so hard I couldn't get him to unlock until I bit him back. Really hard. I bled tons and he shat the entire way in the garage to my car.
Here are the kitties on the way from the vets coming home:
By middle of the afternoon, it became very infected - which, I've come to learn is both surprisingly common and very dangerous with cats. Weird, right? I spent several hours in the afternoon waiting at Good Samaritan Hospital but there were people with gunshot wounds and bites from things worse than 17 year old domestic cats. I went back to work.
By Tuesday evening my finger was purple and huge. I went to Cedars and they checked me in right away. I have been on really heavy drugs and barely conscious. Like, major doses of Dilaudid. Lots of it.
I spent days in a major haze. It was fun and terrifying. Real drug experience to add to my my bio. Hoping to be released tonight and refusing drugs except aspirin today. Mostly because I already "kicked" the opiates last night and don't wanna go through the withdraws again. Had my own little Sid and Nancy experience here in West LA with a view of century city.
I'm bored, mostly exhausted and full of crappy carbs. How are you?

By the way, I desperately want that photo of you hooked up to the IV as your holiday card this coming year.
