DON'T GIVE YOUR MONEY TO the UPS STORE - A TALE OF WOE
So I sent a package to Canada a MONTH ago. The lady at the store told me to put a value on it. I asked (because I knew such things happen) would the value make a tariff that the recipient would have to pay. She said no. I asked this three times. She suggested putting a value of $1,000.00. I asked her again if my friend in Canada would be taxed based on this. She said no. I sent it for $12.00.
He got it two a a half weeks later - and was told he'd have to pay $145.00 for it. He turned it away.
I had to spend $10.00 to get it sent back to me.
I called UPS corporate trying to get my money back or my package resent. They claim that because those stores are franchises, they cannot be responsible for them. This would be like McDonalds corporate not taking responsibility for giving someone food poisioning because the store is a franchise. What a bunch of jerks!
It's FedEx for me forever now.
