today has been a long day.
i had two exams today. both sucked. my comp sci 311 exam has drawings of bunnies and cats all over it, now. it kind of reminds me of this mac hall comic. though, i did write some actual answers down. the good thing about the comp sci 311 exam is 1) there will be a curve and 2)...

Ultra-super-mega-cute!
I want there to be a punchline. Even if it was just "silly cat." or something. 'Cuz things are funnier in threes. That's a scientifical fact. Also I replied today. Stupid Hotmail.

CS is my field too, though I'm (luckily) now finished with school for the time being.
That's awesome, keep up the good work. We need more female Computer Scientists in the world, especially beautiful ones.
Do you program in any other languages besides C/C++? Low level languages without automatic memory management aren't really my bag. I'm more of a functional languages guy -- much more elegant IMHO.
Cheers.

I like it a lot. A lot indeed.
mogmagus:
good stuff, the style you used for this and your last piece are quite interesting.
I like how this one sticks to a single color and makes it the theme. The balloon, the clothes, the backdrop, the hair, they all tie together really well. The subtle shading used and the texturing is good too.
Keep it up

i bought a magnetic poetry kit today; it's the sexual innuendo one. here's what jon and i arranged on my fridge so far:

hrrm dreams. I don't dream often. Well obviously I do, but I never remember them. I was on some medication for a few months that made me sleep lighter and remember my dreams daily, and I found the whole experience very unnerving. Disturbing, even.

hmmm
that intrepretation
doesn't sound very good
darkness and foreboding
scary
don't worry
i'll protect you
i don't like
to remember my dreams
because i sometimes
can't tell them from reality
which is weird

pain overwhelming her
the ringing in her ears
kept her from hearing any more
tears trickled down her cheeks
as she fought to keep from sobbing.
the world faded in and out
as his words played in her head
when he said good-bye
this time he meant it
he would never love her again.

I like it...but I dont know if my opinion counts seeing as I know nothing about poetry
mister_tophat:
Good choice of a moment to freeze in time--the subject matter has a lot of emotional weight, and you play up to that nicely. Also, you avoid overwriting; the lines are pretty lean and mean. I would suggest losing the word "blindly," as adverbs should be murdered mercilessly. (and did you catch the hypocrisy in the last statement?) The other thing I suggest is to strengthen up a couple of verbs.
Perhaps replace "overwhelming" with "poisoning" or "crushing." Perhaps replace "faded" with "throbbed."
Keep on keepin on, wordslinger.

Of course your journal entries are entertaining...
The reason I was curious about whether you were having creative block or not is that creative expression that does not have an outlet tends to find other ways to burst through the seams. Have you come to any understanding of what tension/conflict (whether internal or external) they may signify about your relationships. I'm not prying into personal details, but instead am curious about the process of self-analysis/discovery. A birds-eye view is fine by me...
BTW, I'm looking for fun places to take my friend Freon cause he's only been in the area about 6 months. Where do the interesting people in MD hang? And will they mind a 26-year-old fogey like me crashing the party?
Wishing restful sleep upon you,
Chameleon

I can certainly understand the complication inherent in figuring out relationships. I'm currently in a single-by-choice period myself...it's difficult to find someone who appreciates all aspects of you instead of the flashy bits, and to offer them that same depth of appreciation in return. When you're a chameleon, you're able to become whatever someone needs/is looking for, highlighting those aspects of personality that are most intoxicating to the other person. But ultimately, that path is empty, because unless you can exercise the full range of yourself, you feel suffocated in the relationship, always trying to perform/impress.
My friends have drilled into my head to not sell myself short...to shoot for the most intelligent, witty, attractive, flexible person I can because only they could have enough value to match what I can bring to a relationship... I think my friends are crazy and far too kind. But I'm giving it a shot.
I don't know how much time I'll have until after the holidays to find cool hangouts, but I'll keep my eyes open and will let you know.
26 doesn't sound old, but 26 years of life makes you start to feel a little weary .
Oh, and I hid an easter egg quote from Real Genius in my pics...thought you'd enjoy it.
