Hey guys! I’m trying to write more and get back into doing the blog homework on here more consistently as an exercise, so here I am!
Answering this weeks blog topic:
What’s the most important lesson you’ve ever learned and why?
Trying to think of the most important lesson I’ve ever learned is like asking me what I learned in high school... I don’t remember shit!! Also wow, how do I prioritize? I feel like there were so many lessons in my life that, at the time, were the most important lesson I ever learned, pertaining to whatever struggle I may have been going through. I also feel like I learn the same lessons over and over again bc sometimes you have to make a mistake ten times before you finally say, “hey dumbass, remember the last 9 times you did this? You ain’t a cat, you ain’t got nine lives, get yo damn shit together!”
One lesson I’ve learned over and over is to talk less and listen more.
We all talk, some talk more than others. One thing we don’t all do: listen. Our generation tends to be distracted as we’re constantly multi tasking and attached to our phones. We don’t realize but staring at your phone all day really does fuck with your attention span. I try to make sure I’m off my phone for at least a solid 3 hours a day. I know that sounds like nothing to some people as we have 16 hours a day but think of how often you check your phone. Take note for the next hour, you’ll be appalled with your every 30 second phone checking ass. It’s not wonder that we’re terrible listeners, we have the attention span of a fucking goldfish.
This blog post somehow turned into a self help article but hey, why not! My lesson learned is to talk less, and listen more. My suggestion to help you do so is to spend less time on your phone. Put your phone in another room and set an alarm for 1-3 hours from your starting time. Don’t use your phone during this time! Even if you have to break it up into smaller chunks, every bit helps. The less you’re on your phone, the more attention you can give to the task at hand, or to the persons you should’ve been giving your attention all along when in actuality you were really playing candy crush. ;) Good luck! See you next week!
