I Need Your Help: Help Me Compile An Endless List of Great Waitress Moments in Film
This is for a project I can't reveal just yet. Rattle off to me any, every and all things related to great characters and moments of film (and TV, what the hell) involving waiters and waitresses. I only ask you to not include the films Diner, Waitress and Waiting. That's like, duh. I present my loose list to you and beg for your help.
1. Office Space & Jennifer Aniston: Bennigan's just filed for chapter 11, I wonder if it had anything to do with the film's (totally accurate) exploitation.
2. Reservoir Dogs & Mr. Pink: Absolutely unforgettable with the speech of his 2 words for waitresses: "Learn how to fuckin' type!" Bastard! I hated him for that. Badly.
3. Amelie & Amelie: I believe I speak for many in saying that Amelie is our favorite waitress. Dunzo.
4. Fight Club & the "diner scene" with Marla: Couldn't find a picture and this is possibly my favorite restaurant moment in film. When Tyler meets Marla at the diner, all of the waiters insist on serving him for free and he tells them to just make sure the food they bring him is "clean food." If you haven't read the book or seen the film to know why, get crackin'.
5. DIG! & Anton Newcombe's sitar freakout: Too hard to explain but in the greatest musical documentary ever made, Anton, singer of the Brian Jonestown Massacre starts a fight with his own band on stage DURING an industry showcase. The fist fight is horrific and hilarious but there's one bitty line that I always noticed: before Anton freaks out he randomly screams into the mic that he needs another drink "So send the waitress up here RIGHT NOW!" Imagine that! Demanding the waitress upon threatening to fire and kill your whole band. Anyhoo.
6. Pulp Fiction & Jules' "Divine Intervention/Pork" conversation: This plus the damn robbery all took place in a diner! I DID NOT like the idea of robbing diners, like Ringo & Honey Bunny decided to make their calling card but what an important scene. I also liked
7. Pulp Fiction & Jack Rabbit Slim's: Mainly Steve Buschemi's redemption turn as a waiter and Travolta's lament of "I don't think Buddy Holly's much of a waiter." I would wear this on a badge or shirt.
8. Road Trip & the powdered french toast diner scene: There's a truly incredible diner scene with the great Horatio Sanz as a sloppy waiter who shows us one way of handling a complaint of too much powdered sugar on the hapless geek's french toast breakfast. The entire film is worth owning for this scene. It's a horror.
9. Little Miss Sunshine & "What's ala modee?": I thought this was so cute. I liked the waitress best b/c she was fat. You don't see a lot of fat waitrons ever. When I do I marvel for some reason, same way I have a high reguard for the elderly waitresses.
10. American Psycho & Paul Allen: So many great moments in this cult classic revolved around restaurant life. I particularly enjoyed Patrick's "Not if you want to keep your spleen!" reply to an offer of daily specials being read but my eternal favorite is right after this moment when Pat screams "Try reserving a table at Dorsia now you stupid fucking bastard!" Lovely, just lovely. I'm glad that no waitresses were harmed in either book or film.
Other waitress moments in film that I can remember off hand are terrible. For example
Natural Born Killers: Mallory shot the key lime pie waitress!
Clay Pigeons: The sexy waitress was shot & killed during intercourse!
Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas: The way Del Toro bullied that poor diner waitress! Nerve of him.
Please list me any more, thanks!

This is a great entry. Must revisit it, as I'll be a lot of help.
